Easy yarn bomb: car fin

Here's what you need:
Yarn! I used acrylic with love
Wool will felt, cotton fades...
Sized j hook

Start off by measuring the fin... I use a knot for each area on string.
Decide what pattern you want to use, I used about 5 different patterns, create your own style that best suits you.
Mine I decided to do 5 individual ones.
A long one will do just as well.
Flowers, squares, plain single, half,& doubles.
When you are finished, leave enough yarn to tie with.  I finished off all my edges, for a more stable peice.
Yarn needle
Knitting needle( as needed)
I began with the last one, pulled the yarn thru, looped it around, several times back and forth(repeat on first)
On middle ones I sewed up the ends across 3-4 times for stability.
Best thing about these are you can place in the order you like and can add more later.
If using solid piece,
Place knitting needle through the ends to secure, then stitch up roughly 6 inches at a time so your yarn doesn't tangle.

There are some yarns that I love, and then there are some that I love to hate.  Homespun falls into both of these categories.  First off; the fish tank smell is driving me crazy!!! Oh good greif. We bought a red tip shark at wm, the next day it jumps out of the tank and does a face plant on my kitchen floor.  Oyevei!!!
Then I get the brilliant idea to exchange it for 2 fish that are half the price of the shark.... Stand in return line forever:-( then run to get fish... Back in returns... Have to wait for them to get numbers, then by the time we get home, 1 fish is dead!!! Okay. That blows!  Well, this morning one of the sucker fishes decides to stop moving.  I'm guessing it swallowed a pebble.  Good greif!! If all the fish die, I'm getting a turtle& knitting it a cute little sweater.
Now, I've got to make my hubby's grandma something out of this red homespun.  It's great, I just hate I've mentioned in previous posts.  I think a chunky scarf knitted& use some red heart with love berry for a crochet hat!
Here's hoping no more stupid fish die.

Yarn bomb101

I'm slowly knitting and crocheting my bombs.  My tip is to measure how long & wide it is first.  My knitting was about twice the length it needed to be, I ended up wrapping it around.  The next one I crocheted homespun by lion..

Knitting in the morning

There is only one thing worth getting up at 5 am for... My wonderful amazing husband.  He is currently on 10 hour days.  He is exhausted when he's home and really does not want to get up at the crack of dawn, but he does, for me and for our children.  Those boys in there asleep right now are the reason he works so hard.  He loves them, and they love him.  Every morning I have a few minutes alone with my husband.  This morning it was a back scratch/ rub, hugs and kisses, and I let him have a few moments to relax while I made his coffee and lunch.  When he was about to leave it dawned on me that the boys had not told him goodbye yet.. I had him wait, those boys jumped out of bed and ran across the parking space to give their dad a hug.  That has got to be the sweetest moment today!  Of course, they are back asleep right now, but they don't care what time it is, they will come running to tell their daddy bye.  Big hugs for my husband.  It is a blessing to have such a wonderful man.  Today I will finish up knitting his headrest( for my car).  I'm doing a add on of red heart with love BLUE HAWAII.

Yarn bomb head rest

Lion brand homespun yarn
K crochet hook
I started off with a long rectangle piece, sewed the ends together around the head rest, then I did a very long chain, double crochet roughly 10 rows, wrapped it around the headrest, joining the first part. Then I hooked onto the pieces themselves.  It was a bit difficult at first but once you get the hang of it and realize what shape and which stitches go where.... It can be rather enjoyable.  I'm going to cover my other one later tonight.
Going to get the kiddos then off for groceries.

Yarn bombbb

Yarn bombing my kitchen chairs has proven more difficult that I first thought.  Luckily my last haul has left me with enough red heart with love yarn to finish my whole project.  There's a lot to cover with my chairs, let alone my table and I've still got to finish my headrest in my car.  Goodness I've got a lot of projects around my house that needs to be finished.  Makes me wonder what all the ladies that don't posses my creative spirit do when they want to beauty fy their homes.  Simply going to the store has proven exhaustiating.  Finding one thing just to discover they don't have the exact size or color you need/ want, checking another store, yet another, going back to the first store... They have 1 in stock so you get it... Return home, look online and find that the first stores double has another in stock( you need 2)... Running there, and hey!!! That store has a bunch in stock. Geez, your dumb moment right there.
Needless to say I'm tired of shopping.
I think I'll just yarn bomb all next week. Stay tuned!

Yarn bomb

I have yet to yarn bomb something... I've got so many ideas in my head.  I've been wanting a new table for a while now, my mom was sweet enough to give me hers a while back, but it is too big for my little nook area.  We received our federal a week ago so the money was in the bank to get a smaller set!  I must have checked 10 stores before I found one I liked and would fit my space.  Most of the morning was spent driving around town.  Shopping can be exhausting.  I'm glad my wonderful hubby bought me some new shoes.  Anyways I find my table, come home and have to carry it out of my car multiple trips.  It was way too heavy for me to lift.  It took two men to carry it to my car.  My guys all worked hard to set it up for me.  Tomorrow, hopefully I'll have a bit yarn bombed.
Sleep now.

Right now I really wish my grandma had call waiting.  I'm trying to get ahold of her but all I'm getting is a busy signal.  My grandpa had a stroke and is in the hospital.  We just saw him, my lovely husband took the day off from work to come with me.
Turns out grandma wasn't going to come up after all.  We never got anymore inner soles because the foot store picked the only day we went up there to be closed. Ugh.  Maybe next time.

On a brighter note, I major hauled at the yarn stores!!! Red hart with love was less than it is at Walmart, and they had colors that em doesn't carry!!! Score. Sad thing is I've spent a ton more on my boys fish than on my pretty yarn.  When we got home my yarn from em was delivered.  How ironic.  I'm so tired. I'll have to put up my living room shelf and yarn hauls tomorrow.  Between driving, seeing my grandpa on the hospital, and the fish.. It's been a long day.
I'm glad my grandpa is doing better.

My son's birthday party is coming up this Saturday.  He is wanting a shark hat.  His party is going to be superman lego.  Im still trying to figure out exactly what I want to make him.  A simple beanie should be fine, if I can find the correct color.  In thinking that sharks are grey?  Maybe blue? I'm not certain.  The fins wouldn't be that hard.  I could do ear flaps that are pointed instead of round at the bottom.  The fin on the top poses a bit more difficulty. I'll post more when I figure things out.

Lele bug

8 years ago I gave birth to my youngest son, Leland.  He was born via c-section at 8:52 am.  My first glimpse of him was amazing.  Such a small little human, he was 8 pounds, red in color, jet black hair and covered in slimy white gunk.  He was beautiful.  He had very strong lungs.
I wanted to name him ZadianMichael, but my ex in laws told people his name was satan. I took offense to that.  So my little guy went two(2) whole days without a name.   I was heart broken at the negativity.  On the third day my ex husbands sister handed me a list of names and I only liked Leland.  My mother in law at the time said she hated that name, well, tough luck!  My ex wanted merrick as his middle name.  Too bad!! I looked down at my little one, with hair black as cole and said" do you want to be Leland Cole?"  He looked at me and suckled.  That was final.  His name is Leland Cole. My sweet beautiful baby boy.  The little one who used to snuggle up with me, falling asleep in my chest.  He has grown into a handsome, caring, sweet little man.  It saddens me he doesn't like my kisses anymore, but he's still affectionate and mummy's little guy.
Happy birthday Lele bug.  You are loved.

Yarn colors

I have a hard time picking out outfits to wear most of the time, as a result from this, I have began to ask my husband which one I should wear.  Most guys are not color wise, my husband tries his hardest to help me whenever possible.  He truly is the best blessing in my life( aside from my children & mom).
I've started a blanket for our "baby to be Please dear God let me conceive".
At first I was going to do the plain rainbow: ROY G BIV
Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue,
Indigo , Violet
I'm not plain.  I borrowed my son's art notebook, bought some colored pencils, and started to work... 4 drawings and color combos later, I still hadn't a clue what color to go next.
I did the most logical thing to do,  I handed my wonderful husband the bin of yarn and asked him to pick a ball.
He picked the blueish purple color.  It may be because blue is his favorite color, but, I think it's perfect with the berry red.
I'm thankful to have such a amazing husband.  He does everything to help me, without complaining.

Ice, literally

This was taken on my walk home a hour ago,  I must admit the trees are lovely covered in ice.  I'm not particularly fond of the wind chill, however.  I freezing temperatures remind me that after I get toasty in my house I need to ice my right wrist and 3rd&4th fingers.  I'm not certain what happened, but yesterday while I was finishing up a crochet order, my fingers began to swell.  The pain was so intense that I had to stop.  Knitting was slightly better, but there was still a lot of pain. While shopping last night I found a pair of crafting gloves.  I will be wearing them all day.  I know I should wear my brace, but I'm hooked on yarn... Ha! I'm a yarnaholic.  My husband banned me from working last night.  He is incredibly sweet.  He even helped me by looping the strands of my braids to the ear flaps. I had to show him a few times, but he got the hang of it, I must say that I am proud of him for doing a good job.  He only frayed 4.  I think it's time for a nap.  Yesterday I was up for 21 hours, woke at 4 am today( 3 hours of sleep), then again at 6:45.   I'm not having any coffee today.  I will try to only do one project, I will have to wait until my hand heals a bit before I tackle any more orders.

Legos& boys

As most of you walk outside in the United States, you will be cold... Well, I is a whopping 32* with freezing rain.  How lovely, good thing I am warm inside with my boys.  ( trying not to burn lunch while I type this). They are happy watching lego movies all morning.  I'm busy with work.  Not in the since that you might think.  I've got to take care of the house, finish crochet orders,  complete 3 knit projects, do laundry and other chores, and cook.
Oh.. And I also did some shopping. Thank goodness that walmart has red heart with yarn in the colors I need to complete my baby blanket.  I am almost finished with the red starter color.  Red is okay on certain things, in fact I'm wearing a red tank top now, but in general, I don't like red.  It makes for a hard start when you don't like the color you are working with. Good thing it is such a easy yarn to work with.  I'll be happy once I switch to the next color, whichever that might be.

Strange places to crochet

The other day I finally had enough of my boys "forgetting" to replace the roll of toilet paper.  Luckily we just got a shelf to go over the back so I didn't have far to reach when I needed some.
Like the great mom that I am, I decided to play a practical prank on them.  I had purchased some vanna white yarn from a yarn site and thought the little skein looked perfect.  I removed the toilet paper and wiggled a hole thru the center of the yarn, inserted the tube& voila!
-- earlier note... My size 10.5 circular needles were great but the tubing was bugging me so I cut it off and replaced the ends with lego people heads.  I'll have to drill a deeper hole so they stay on better, but they are aweful cute, and the boys will learn to pick up their toys if I steal them to recycle them as my crafts!!
-- Anyways... This got me thinking of the subject of using the toilet... I know, ewwwww. That's gross.  Yeah, so is a lot of other things...
I thought about how much we sit there doing what we do.. Instead of play on my phone or twiddle my thumbs, why not knit?? It's gross, well, not really since it's at my shoulder level( I'm pulling from above), the yarn & needles are going no where near my bum or the trash can, and my washing machine is close. When I finish, just pop in the wash.  Oh, and there is Lysol by too.
I suggest only a small roll so it's not too long.  Also, be assured, the item I'm knitting is for my personal use.   I keep my orders in a "gross free" environment.. Minus the occasional sneeze. ( yes, I keep Kleenex& sanitizer close.)

Super Bowl is tomorrow, let me just say that I hope both teams loose.
I know, that is improbable but, I'm just a sore looser.  I really think that the Green Bay Packers should win.. Every single game, ever!!!
Anyways,  I'm already sick of football.  I am however, looking forward to our brunch at church tomorrow.  The ladies at our church sure do know how to cook.  The men aren't too bad either.  Tonight I am working up a black and white baby sox beanie.  I've already done the majic circle to 42 stitches.
Red heart yarn
H Hook
Chain 4, pull, slip into 2nd stitch
6 single crochet into same stitch
Double(2xsc) in each=12
1single, 2xsc =18
2single, 2xsc =24
3single, 2xsc =30(newborn After stretch)
4single, 2xsc =36( newborn no stretch)
5single, 2xsc =42

From here it is simple.  This will be able to fit a 6-12 month easily.
Just continue to single crochet each stitch round =42.
About 5 inches long.
For the sox hat it will have (1)- 2 row stripe of white half way and (2)-1 row stripes at the bottom.
Finish off with 1 row of black.
